History

Sharing their story of the Bronze Age discovery here at the farm Cam and Emma walk the children through the stone age into the bronze age. Showing real artefacts from the time found here such as flint tools, pottery and more; children get to experience history up close in a tangible meaningful way!

Cam will explain what happens in an archaeology excavation and how it helps us learn what happened in history! There is also the potential for schools to visit us here at the farm and take part in excavating one of our round house sites

Primitive Skills

Children can have a go at learning some of the practical primitive skills from the time such as cordage making and pottery making bringing learning and understanding of how people lived back then alive.

Testimonial

We were absolutely delighted with the Bronze Age workshop led by Cam and Emma, who are based on a farm near Hastings where a genuine Bronze Age settlement has been discovered. From the very start, the session was expertly delivered, combining clear explanations with meaningful, hands-on experiences that truly captured the children’s interest.

The workshop guided the children through the Stone Age and into the Bronze Age, helping them understand how tools, technology, and daily life evolved over time. They had the rare opportunity to examine real examples of stone and bronze tools, learn how these were made, and gain a deeper appreciation of how people lived in close connection with the natural world.

The practical activities were a real highlight. The children loved making cordage from nettles and exploring Bronze Age pottery, studying genuine fragments found on the farm before creating their own pinch pots inspired by ancient designs. These experiences made the learning memorable, tangible, and accessible for all learners.

The session concluded with thoughtful questions and reflections, helping the children consolidate their understanding. It was a highly engaging, well-structured workshop that brought history to life in a meaningful way.

We would wholeheartedly recommend these workshops to any school looking for an enriching and authentic learning experience.
